Terms of use
These terms cover your use of TutorNest. They are written in plain English on purpose: if you cannot tell what you are agreeing to, the agreement is not worth much.
Who this is for
TutorNest is used by three kinds of person. A teacher runs lessons and owns the material she creates. A parent follows their child’s progress. A child practises inside their parent’s account — children do not have their own logins, and we do not ask a child for an email address or a password.
You must be 18 or over to create an account. A parent creating an account is agreeing to these terms on their child’s behalf.
What we provide
Daily practice for a child between lessons, tools for a teacher to plan and approve that practice, and a progress view for both. We do not employ, vet, supervise or endorse any teacher on the platform. The teaching relationship, and any payment for it, is between the teacher and the family.
Who owns what
A teacher keeps ownership of the questions, plans, lesson notes and material she creates or uploads. She grants us permission to store it and show it to her own students and their parents, and to nobody else.
Only upload material you have the right to upload. If you paste in a textbook you do not own the rights to, that is your responsibility rather than ours, and we will remove it if the rights holder asks.
What the AI does, and what it does not
Some features use AI to draft questions and lesson preparation. Nothing drafted by AI ever reaches a child without a teacher approving it first. That is not a policy we intend to follow; it is a rule the database enforces, and a question that has not been approved by a named teacher cannot be served at all.
AI can be wrong. A teacher approving a draft is taking responsibility for it, which is exactly why the approval step exists.
Fair use
Do not use another person’s account, try to reach data belonging to another teacher or another family, upload anything unlawful or abusive, or attempt to interfere with the service. We may suspend an account that does any of these.
Cost
The service is currently free while it is being built. If we introduce charging, we will tell you in advance and you will never be charged without agreeing first.
Ending it
You can stop using TutorNest whenever you like and ask us to delete your account. We will delete it, and the learning records attached to it, within 30 days. Some records may persist in backups for a short period after that before those backups age out.
No guarantee
We work hard to keep the service running and correct, but we provide it as it is. We do not guarantee that a child will reach any particular standard; learning is not a thing software can promise. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Changes, and getting in touch
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and date it. Questions go to hello@tutornestil.com.
These terms have been written to describe the service accurately. They have not been reviewed by a lawyer, and they are not a substitute for legal advice.
