Terms of use

TutorNest is used by three kinds of person. A teacher runs lessons and owns the material she creates. A parent follows their child’s progress. A child practices inside their parent’s account — children do not have their own logins, and we do not ask a child for an email address or a password.

You must be 18 or over to create an account. A parent creating an account is agreeing to these terms on their child’s behalf.

Daily practice for a child between lessons, tools for a teacher to plan and approve that practice, and a progress view for both.

TutorNest is used two ways. A teacher may bring students she already teaches, and then the teaching relationship and the payment for it are between her and the family, exactly as they were before. A family may also join TutorNest and choose a teacher through it, and then the lessons are priced and arranged here and we pass the teacher her share.

Teachers are independent in both cases. We do not employ them, we do not supervise the lessons they give, and the teaching itself remains theirs and the family’s.

A teacher keeps ownership of the questions, plans, lesson notes and material she creates or uploads. She grants us permission to store it and show it to her own students and their parents, and to nobody else.

Only upload material you have the right to upload. If you paste in a textbook you do not own the rights to, that is your responsibility rather than ours, and we will remove it if the rights holder asks.

Some features use AI to draft questions and lesson preparation. Every question is checked automatically and reviewed before a child meets it. That is not a policy we intend to follow; it is a rule the database enforces, and a question with no approval on record cannot be served at all.

AI can be wrong. The teacher decides what is taught and can withdraw any question, and the person running TutorNest reviews what has been published.

Do not use another person’s account, try to reach data belonging to another teacher or another family, upload anything unlawful or abusive, or attempt to interfere with the service. We may suspend an account that does any of these.

Using TutorNest itself is free while it is being built. Lessons arranged through TutorNest are charged at the price shown to you before you agree to a plan, and never at a price you have not seen. A teacher you brought with you is paid by you directly, on whatever terms the two of you already have. If we introduce a charge for the software itself, we will tell you in advance and you will never be charged without agreeing first.

You can stop using TutorNest whenever you like and ask us to delete your account. We will delete it, and the learning records attached to it, within 30 days. Some records may persist in backups for a short period after that before those backups age out.

We work hard to keep the service running and correct, but we provide it as it is. We do not guarantee that a child will reach any particular standard; learning is not a thing software can promise. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
